Elizabeth Bear

self employed
Brookfield, Massachusetts

Elizabeth Bear was born on the same day as Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, but in a different year. When coupled with a tendency to read the dictionary for fun as a child, this led her inevitably to penury, intransigence, and the writing of speculative fiction. She is the winner of the following awards:

3 Hugos ,1 Audie Award, 1 Gaylactic Spectrum Award, 1 John W. Campbell Award, 1 Locus Award and 1 Theodore Sturgeon

Elizabeth is one of only five writers who have gone on to win multiple Hugo Awards for fiction after winning the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer (the others being C. J. Cherryh, Orson Scott Card, Spider Robinson, & Ted Chiang).

Elizabeth has written 6 novels, 6 Series books, 3 poems, and 2 short story collections totaling 28 novels and almost a hundred short stories. Her first novel Hammered was published at the end of December, 2004 and was followed by Scardown in July and Worldwired in November of the following year (making up the Jenny Casey Trilogy). Her dog lives in Massachusetts; her partner, writer Scott Lynch, lives in Wisconsin. She spends a lot of time on planes.
